"LET'S CLEAR THE AIR" FINAL for 2005/2006

• The Form Task has a new assignment. It is now part of the portfolio & instruction process. It does not need to be sent with the Picture Task to the Stage 1 or 2s for scoring.

• Only special needs students can write their response to the picture task on the computer with spell check and grammar check turned off.

• What if they score lower on the post than the pre? They can earn a certificate one time only at the level they post test if they have the recommended hours of instruction along with a completed portfolio. We encourage you to do more instruction if the posttest score is lower than the pretest.

• The recommended minimum hours of instruction are: Level A-40 hrs. Level B-30 hrs., Level C-20 hrs., Level D-10 hrs.

• All students must do a portfolio of writing examples completed during the instructional classroom time. The teacher then must fill out the Portfolio Description Form that details these examples and includes remarks on the student's progress. The Form Task is now part of the required portfolio.

• The student can only receive a level certificate once.

• Do not tell the student they have earned a certificate when you send the request to Margie or Cindy. Not all students meet the requirements to receive a certificate.

• Please, send Margie and Cindy the originals. Make copies for your files or just record the scores. We will send the samples back to you if you include a postage-paid, self-addressed envelope.

• It is very important to label the pre test and the post test. It will save us time. If these are not labeled, we have to go by the dates and if there are no dates, we have nothing to go by.
